Dear Parents
As a result of the Department of Education’s social distancing strategy to support wider NSW Health containment to stop the spread of the COVID-19, we have had to make the following changes to planned activities. Please be aware that we were only notified late last night of this directive and are still in the early stages of implementation.
What is changing:
- Yr 6 Camp Berry has been postponed until we can arrange a safer time to attend. We are the first school in line for a reallocted time; at this stage, probably in September, Term 3
- ALL students returning from overseas travel will be required to self isolate for 14 days
- Students who are unwell should be kept at home until well enough to attend school
- All PSSA sporting events and knockout activities have been temporarily ceased until futher notice
- Our school cross country may proceed. Runners aged 8yrs – 12yrs will participate in smaller year groups. More information will be sent home regarding this
- Kinder excursion to the Yarralumla Playstation on Wednesday, 1 April has been postponed, new date to be confirmed
- ALL assemblies in the Hall with students and parents have been cancelled until further notice. This includes the Easter Assembly
- Parent / Teacher interviews to be held in Weeks 9/10/11 have been cancelled at this stage. However, should a parent or teacher deem it necessary to contact each other to discuss a student’s progress, please do so on an individual basis.
- Please, do not send in shared food for birthday treats
- Encourage good handwashing practices at home as well as at school. We will be reinforcing this daily in classrooms
- At this stage, School Photos will go ahead as it is only one class at a time.
Please be aware that we are doing our very best, in unprecedented times, to ensure the safety of all children in our care. We will be in discussions on how best to cater for emerging needs and keep in contact with you as it becomes necessary.
Yours in education
Chris Hunter
